Description
Norbac Tools Subland Drill Reamers are basically a two flute drill and a multi-fluted reamer combined into one tool. The tool concept is to drill and ream 'thru' holes in one production pass, whenever part tolerance permits. Subland construction allows both the drill and reamer cutting edges to be resharpened without having to recreate the small diameter.

Applications
Subland drill reamers are truly unique. Significant time savings can be made in selecting this tool construction. A major advantage, is if a part tolerance and application permits, a thru hole can be drilled and reamed to finished hole size from solid in one production pass. The operation must be a 'thru hole' application and the drill should drill thru and be finished cutting before the reamer portion start to cut.

Limitations
Unfortunately this unique tool concept comes with limitations: Hole depth should not exceed 1 1/2 to 2 times the reamer diameter. The tool is best suited to applications where finished bore tolerance limits are ISO grade 9 or higher.
The drill diameter should not be less than 90% of the reamer diameter.
