Step Drill

Available in:
High Speed Steel, Carbide Tipped, Solid Carbide.
Description
Norbac Tools Step Drills offer a big advantage over conventional altered standards. A standard drill is produced with a web to suit its diameter, and the web is not necessarily central. Grinding a step on an ordinary drill destroys the rake and causes the small diameter to have insufficient chip room. It can also emphasise the eccentricity which possibly exists in the actual web, often resulting in breakage. Norbac Tools Step Drills are built to order with flute formation specifically designed to suit the small diameter as well as the large. The Norbac Tools method of manufacturing results in a more accurate tool. Proper rake and chip clearance result in less tool breakage and more satisfactory results are achieved.
Applications
The two flute Step Drill eliminates operations by drilling multi-diameter holes such as drill, drill-chamfer, etc., in one pass. Subland construction is recommended when possible. When bushings are used double
Limitations
The Step Drill is not practical with a small diameter less than 30% of the larger diameter.
